Established in 1965, Sharif University of Technology (SUT) accepted the responsibility of training highly-qualified and committed human resources along with conducting applied researches in numerous fields of study. This university has more than 420 faculty members, 13 academic departments, 6 research centers, 15 centers of excellence and an international campus. In the past five years, more than 90% of undergraduate applicants who ranked in the top 100 and 50% of graduate applicants who ranked in the top 500 in nationwide university entrance exams have selected SUT to pursue their studies; this preeminent educational institute is considered the most popular and preferred choice for top students in comparison with the other Iranian universities. The Kish Nonprofit-Nongovernmental Higher Education Institute was established on Kish Island in 1995 with an official permit from the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT); Sharif University of Technology (SUT) was later entrusted with its management in 2004. A policy to increase the number of international programs with the aim of attracting international students led to the launch of joint programs with Monash University of Australia as well as Multimedia University (MMU) of Malaysia. Following the official transfer of Kish University to SUT in 2009, the education and research activities of SUT International Campus' goal of developing higher education in Iran has continued. Since then, more than 2000 students have graduated from SUT in a number of engineering and management fields. Admission to the campus can be made either by submitting a direct application or through the nationwide university entrance exams at the undergraduate and graduate level.
